Premisut PGCL suture (Poliglecaprone-25), is a sterile synthetic monofilament absorbable surgical suture prepared from a copolymer of glycolide and e- caprolactone. Premisut PGCL sutures are available both in undyed and dyed variants. Undyed suture is beige in colour. Dyed variant of suture is violet in colour, which is dyed with D&C violet No 2.
Indicated in surgical procedures where a combination of an absorbable suture and short term wound support is required for wound closure, soft tissue approximation and/or ligation.
Premisut PGCL suture after implantation elicits a minimal initial inflammatory reaction in tissues and is eventually replaced with an ingrowth of fibrous connective tissue. Premisut PGCL suture being absorbable in nature gets absorbed in the tissues by means of hydrolysis, during which the Poliglecaprone-25 polymer is degraded into monomers of adipic acid which is eventually absorbed and metabolized in the body. This process of absorption initially leads to progressive loss of tensile strength, followed by a loss of mass.
The technical characteristics may slightly vary or be adjusted depending on the needs of each market (e.g. coating, tensile strength, needle composition, packaging etc)
