Premisut POLYESTER suture (Polyester), is a sterile synthetic multifilament braided coated non-absorbable surgical suture prepared from fine filaments of poly (ethylene terephthalate). The fine polyester fibres are braided to produce a firm suture that remains soft and pliable. Premisut POLYESTER suture is available in undyed and dyed form. Dyed suture is colored green with D&C Green No.6. For added lubrication, smooth passage through tissue and easy knot tie down, Premisut POLYESTER suture is coated with Silicon. Premisut POLYESTER suture may also be supplied with PTFE (polytetrafluroethylene) pledgets for use as a pad between the suture and the tissue surface to increase the load bearing area.
Premisut POLYESTER suture is intended for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurological tissues.
Premisut POLYESTER suture being braided enables secured knots. It is soft and pliable and very easy to handle. It elicits a minimal initial inflammatory reaction in tissues which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. Premisut POLYESTER suture is not absorbed, nor is it subjected to degradation or weakening by the action of tissue enzymes. Due to its relative biological inertness, it is recommended for use in tissues, where the least possible suture reaction is desired.
The technical characteristics may slightly vary or be adjusted depending on the needs of each market (e.g. coating, tensile strength, needle composition, packaging etc)
