Premisut PGLA-910 suture (Polyglactin 910), is a sterile synthetic multifilament braided absorbable surgical suture prepared from a co-polymer of 90% Glycolide and 10% L-lactide. Premisut PGLA-910 suture is dyed with D&C Violet No 2 (conforming to U.S.Code of Federal regulations). Premisut PGLA- 910 suture is available in undyed form also. For added lubrication, smooth passage through tissue and easy knot tie down, Premisut PGLA-910 suture is coated with a mixture composed of Polyglactin 370 co-polymer (30% Glycolide and 70% Lactide) and Calcium Stearate.
Premisut PGLA-910 suture is intended for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in ophthalmic procedures, but not for use in cardiovascular and neurological issues.
Premisut PGLA-910 suture after implantation elicits a minimal initial inflammatory reaction in tissues and is eventually replaced with an ingrowth of fibrous connective tissue. Premisut PGLA-910 suture being absorbable in nature gets absorbed in the tissues by means of hydrolysis, during which the Polyglactin 910 co-polymer is degraded into Glycolic acid and Lactic acid which is eventually absorbed and metabolized in the body. This process of absorption initially leads to progressive lossof tensile strength, followed by a loss of mass.
The technical characteristics may slightly vary or be adjusted depending on the needs of each market (e.g. coating, tensile strength, needle composition, packaging etc)
